What is a Split Shift?

A split shift is a work schedule which consists of two segments, with a break or gap in between. Split shifts are available in the Shift Scheduler section on Bayzat.

Supporting Material & Pro Tips:

How to Schedule Split Shifts?

There are three easy ways to schedule split shifts:
- Individually per employee
- Using the schedule planner
- By copying shifts
Explore these methods and find what works best for you.

Supporting Material & Pro Tips:
Restrictions for Using Split Shifts

While the split shift feature is quite robust, the below are some key considerations and restrictions you need to take into account when scheduling split shifts:
- Maximum number of shifts allowed in a day is 2 per employee
- If an employee has a day off or a day off with the check-in allowed, scheduling 2 shifts on that day is not allowed
- If an employee is on a half-day leave, scheduling shifts is not allowed

Implications on Scheduling Extra Hours

While the split shift feature is quite robust, the below are some key considerations and implications you need to take into account when scheduling extra hours:
- If the split shifts are scheduled for an employee, scheduling extra hours beforehand is not allowed
- Vice versa, if extra hours are already scheduled for any day beforehand, then adding the second shift for that day will be restricted

Supporting Material & Pro Tips:
Managing Attendance Violations with Split Shifts

Here are some important considerations:
- Variable deductions are calculated for split shifts just like for the regular shifts
- Fixed deductions will be halved in case of an attendance violation on a split shift
- If you need to add a second shift for a day and the employee already has an entry in the 'Time & Pay Adjustments' for that day, this entry must be in the 'Pending' status.
